Basil Lunch System

Basil, a South Asian-based houseware start-up, approached Prime Studio to design a lunch container system for both kids and adults that is thermally insulative, and empowered people to plan their meals based on what they want to eat, not just what can fit into their lunch pack.

Skills: Design Research, SolidWorks, Human Factors, Prototyping, Design for Manufacturing

We sought to develop a brand language that the “Inspired Millennial Consumer” can connect with. A brand that is both aspirational and affordable. Showcasing:

Elevated Aesthetics
Safe Sustainable Materials and Finishes
Enhanced Convience

“Away from the boring”

Fun and Functional; functionality was considered fundamental to the design’s forms.

“For a Life Well Lived”

Concept Refinement

Basil elevates the traditional Indian Lunch experience in a way that considers unique cultural elements while delivering an end product that enhances a person’s lunch experience, regardless of their cultural background.

Competitive Sample Testing

Concept Refinement

Adaptive carry case solutions allow for both taller vertical stacks and larger slim footprints.

The Carry Case was in the early stages of development during my time at Prime. At the time I left, the favorite concept direction was an idea of an adaptable bag.
